WHEN TO COME?

When to come to Costa Rica? How about anytime of the year! The "summer season", from December through early May, will assure a perfect tan, and you can bet on the best chance to hook a prize winning Marlin or Sailfish -especially between December and March-. Don't underestimate our "Green Season", sometimes (erroneously) referred to as the rainy season. It's the very thing that provides the luxuriant growth of our rainforests. It takes over in late May and lasts through early December. Average temperatures drop from the high-eighties to the mid-seventies and you can usually set your watch to the comfortable afternoon rain showers.

All year long our near-equatorial latitude affords us twelve hours of daylight. Several distinct climate zones offer a variety of ecosystems, from the dryer northern region of Guanacaste, resembling the West African plains, to the lush evergreen tropical forest of the Central Pacific. Also enjoy the low-lying flatlands of the Caribbean coast, or the unspoiled southern region of the Osa Peninsula. Either dry or green season, the Central Pacific especially, is ready to please you with its variety of local attractions and easy access by land, air, or sea.
